Camden, N.C. — November 15, 2025 — Retired Superior Court Judge Jerry R. Tillett, now a candidate for the North Carolina Senate, District 1, demonstrated his long-standing support for the Second Amendment on Saturday during a campaign stop at the annual Camden–Elizabeth City Shrine Club Gun Show, held at 172 Chantilly Road in Camden.
The event—now a cherished regional tradition—has for years brought together sportsmen, firearms collectors, antique arms enthusiasts, and outdoor sports vendors from across the Albemarle region. Known for its friendly atmosphere and commitment to safety and responsible firearm ownership, the annual show typically draws steady crowds. This year was no exception, as a strong flow of attendees filled the hall throughout the warm and unseasonably pleasant fall afternoon.
Judge Tillett spent several hours greeting constituents, many of whom were longtime gun owners, veterans, hunters, and Second Amendment advocates. The visit allowed the retired judge to share his judicial philosophy and personal convictions regarding constitutional rights.
Speaking to attendees, Judge Tillett stated:
“I support the Second Amendment fully. Unlike state constitutions, the U.S. Bill of Rights—especially the first seven amendments—combine multiple rights in each amendment. All amendments are of equal dignity, importance, and authority. Each is equally deserving of preservation. I believe in lawful and responsible gun possession and use. Every owner should be aware of the responsibilities, consequences, and proper use of firearms, as our history of militias has taught us.”
Residents from every corner of the Albemarle Region—Pasquotank, Camden, Currituck, Perquimans, Dare, and surrounding counties—approached Judge Tillett to discuss public safety, constitutional issues, and their vision for North Carolina’s future. Many expressed appreciation for his decades of judicial service and his willingness to meet voters face-to-face.
Judge Tillett’s campaign emphasized that Saturday’s event reflects his broader commitment to protecting constitutional freedoms, supporting lawful citizens, and standing firmly for responsible gun ownership in northeastern North Carolina.
