Retired Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Jerry R. Tillett joined the community for the 10th Annual Wanchese Christmas Parade, celebrating a decade of tradition, fellowship, and coastal pride. Families, local churches, first responders, and fishermen lined the route as colorful floats and classic boats rolled through the village, honoring the heritage and faith that define Wanchese.
Judge Tillett thanked organizers and volunteers for keeping the parade strong, calling it “a testament to the heart of this community.” He added, “We must keep Christ in Christmas—because the birth of Christ is the true source of hope, unity, and purpose in our lives. Passing that message on to our children is one of the greatest responsibilities we share.”
The judge also praised Wanchese for standing firm in its traditions during a time when many communities feel cultural pressure. “This parade shows that faith and family are still at the center of who we are,” Tillett said. “Wanchese shines a light that reminds all of us what matters most.”
As the village marked its 10th anniversary parade with music, cheers, and the warmth of neighbors coming together, Tillett expressed gratitude for being part of the celebration, noting that events like these strengthen Dare County’s identity and unity.
